In an open writing to the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, at the same time the minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a young man states some needs of his area, including good roads.
According to the writer, who goes by the name Famous Afeyetso, who was a volunteer teacher for the honorable Member Parliament during the Akosombo Dam spillage disaster, two major needs of North Tongu are good roads and factory for the youth to work.
Below is the full writeup posted on his Facebook page.
Dear Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, aka Torgbe Worgbedzi. I wish to draw your attention to challenges in your beloved constituency.
First of all, I have observed since your assumption of office as the Minister for Foreign Affairs, more of your attention on your constituency is carried away. I understand this is not deliberate as it is obvious the work load is too much.
Honorable, to dive into the main reason for this writing, I wish to say that it will be very disappointing to us, the people of North Tongu to still see our roads, especially the ones connecting us to places where our lives depend on, thus Hospitals, farms, schools, markets, etc in the same bad states. Some of these roads are Mepe to Sege, Mepe to Dove, Juapong to Podoe, Podoe to Ayiwata, and Ayiwata to Titikope.
I want to draw your attention and that of Hon. Daniel Bessey to the road network linking Mepe and Sege, which gives access to Battor Catholic Hospital, which has been in a grave deplorable states for about a decade now.
It is the sole responsibility of the John Dramani Mahama / NDC government to fix this road since the area voted massively for the change we are seeing and about to see more.
Honorable, I also want to use this medium to humbly remind your outfit that, North Tongu has given you highest percentage in votes. You are the MP with the highest vote rate in the country, if I get the data right.
This is a reason why neglecting roads in the district will only make constituents lose trust in the government and that of the NDC and will leave all of us minding our own business when it’s that time again.
Somebody may say it’s too early for the call but some constituencies are receiving their shares of the national cakes and we the people of North Tongu deserve same and even more.
Another thing I want to draw your attention to is the joblessness of the youth of your constituency, especially those along Aveyime-Mepe stretch. This joblessness has made some youth thieves and every day and night, they go about invading people’s homes, taking their belongings away.
We need at least a factory at this side of the district to engage the youth in working, to limit the rate of thefts in the area.
Please Sir, these are few things of many (which will come later) I want to draw your attention to. Kindly consider them while you try not to take all your attention to the ministerial roles, but some on your constituency, which is your root.
Thank you
