As part of activities marking the 70th Afenorto Mini Durbar, Tongu Global presented two championship trophies to the Mepe Development Association (MDA) to support the Fosu Examination Competition. The initiative is aimed at promoting academic excellence and encouraging healthy competition among basic schools in Mepe.
The trophies were presented on behalf of Tongu Global by Afeyetso Famous and received on behalf of the Chiefs and People of Mepe by the Chairman of the Mepe Development Association, Mr. Bismarck Fiifi Tetteh, together with the Chairman of the Fosu Examination Committee, Mr. Agbedanu Amelorlawovor. The presentation was witnessed by traditional leaders, community members and invited guests during the Mini Durbar.
The larger trophy has been dedicated to the Overall Best School Award. It will be competed for by all participating schools, with the winner determined by the highest combined scores of its students in the Fosu Examination Competition. This trophy is a rotating championship trophy, meaning the winning school will keep it until the next edition of the competition, when it will be returned to the organizers for the next school to compete for.
The smaller trophy has been reserved for the Overall Best Student Award. It will be presented to the student who emerges as the best performer across both the Primary and Junior High School categories. Unlike the school trophy, this one will become the permanent property of the winning student as a lasting recognition of exceptional academic achievement.
Speaking on behalf of Tongu Global, Afeyetso Famous said the introduction of the trophies is intended to give greater meaning to the competition by celebrating both collective and individual excellence. He noted that while schools will be encouraged to improve teaching and learning to win the championship trophy, students will also be inspired to put in their best knowing that outstanding performance will be recognized.
He further expressed the hope that the initiative would help raise the profile of the Fosu Examination Competition and make it more attractive to individuals, organizations and institutions willing to invest in education. According to him, when excellence is rewarded and the competition is managed with fairness and credibility, it builds confidence among participants and creates opportunities for more partnerships in support of education.
Tongu Global reaffirmed its commitment to supporting educational initiatives that empower young people and contribute to the development of Mepe. The organization expressed appreciation to the Mepe Development Association and the Fosu Examination Committee for embracing the sponsorship and wished all participating schools and students success in this year’s competition.
